Foreign Secretary David Lammy told Parliament that one British national was injured in Israel during Iran’s latest missile barrage, the first confirmed UK casualty since the two countries’ hostilities escalated ten days ago. Lammy said the government had offered consular assistance and warned that the Middle East situation remained “perilous.” An RAF A400 transport aircraft evacuated 63 British citizens and their dependants from Tel Aviv to Larnaca on 23 June, with a charter connection to the UK later the same day. About 4,000 Britons have registered their presence in Israel and around 1,000 have asked to be airlifted; further flights will be scheduled subject to security conditions, Lammy said. The Foreign Office also advised UK nationals in Qatar to shelter in place after a US security alert. Separately, the family of Craig and Lindsay Foreman, both 52 and from East Sussex, appealed for government action after going a month without news of the couple, who were arrested in Iran in January while travelling by motorbike and later charged with espionage. Their son, Joe Bennett, said the family had received only one letter and three welfare updates from UK officials, the last in May, and feared for the couple’s safety after strikes damaged Tehran’s Evin prison. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said it is pressing Tehran for access and continues to provide consular support. Lammy reiterated that the United Kingdom stands ready to defend its personnel and those of its allies, and urged all parties to de-escalate. The government is monitoring regional security and assessing further measures to protect British nationals caught up in the Iran–Israel confrontation.
