The Recording Academy said it has invited nearly 3,600 music professionals to join its 2025 membership class, expanding the pool of voters for next year’s 68th Grammy Awards. About 2,600 of the invitees would become voting members, potentially reshaping the electorate that determines nominations and winners. Chief Executive Officer Harvey Mason Jr. said the outreach is part of a multi-year effort to diversify an organisation long criticised as too homogeneous. According to the Academy, 49% of the latest invitees are women, 56% identify as people of colour and 60% are under 40 years old. Invitees have until 31 July to accept. Among those asked to join are pop singer Addison Rae, Mexican band Grupo Firme, global girl group KATSEYE, comedian Nikki Glaser, rapper Joey Bada$$ and R&B artist Mariah the Scientist. First-round voting for the 68th Grammys opens on 3 October, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 1 February at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
