Kendrick Lamar’s Apple Music-sponsored Super Bowl LIX halftime performance collected four nominations as the Television Academy unveiled contenders for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on 15 July. The February show, broadcast by Fox from the Superdome in New Orleans, is shortlisted for Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Directing for a Variety Special, Music Direction and Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming. The nods place the hip-hop artist’s 15-minute set alongside the Oscars, two Saturday Night Live 50th-anniversary programs and Netflix’s "Beyoncé Bowl" in the live variety category. Winners will be announced on 14 September at Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, where the Television Academy will honor programming from the 2024-25 season.
