Philadelphia Eagles guard Landon Dickerson was carted off the field during the club’s open practice on Sunday night, Aug. 10, after collapsing on a pass play and being unable to put weight on his right leg. The session drew an estimated 50,000 fans to Lincoln Financial Field. Subsequent imaging on Monday revealed a meniscus injury in Dickerson’s right knee, according to multiple reports including ESPN and Reuters. The 26-year-old will undergo a minor arthroscopic procedure to trim the damaged cartilage and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, with the team’s target of having him available for the Sept. 7 season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Dickerson has been selected to the Pro Bowl in each of his first three NFL seasons and has started 62 of 63 regular-season games since being drafted in the second round in 2021. The Eagles rewarded him with a four-year, $84 million contract extension in March 2024 after he helped anchor the offensive line that powered last season’s Super Bowl run. Should his recovery slip, Philadelphia could turn to Kenyon Green, Matt Pryor, Brett Toth or rookie Trevor Keegan at left guard.
Eagles OL Landon Dickerson is undergoing a "minor procedure" on his meniscus in the coming days, per Adam Schefter. Dickerson will then be considered week-to-week and the goal is him being ready for the season-opener vs. Dallas. https://t.co/X98cNQADmJ
Landon Dickerson *got lucky* and is having his meniscus trimmed (instead of repaired). Although he will develop osteoarthritis much faster than he normally would have in that part of the knee, it will allow him to return much sooner (possibly by Week 1) as opposed to missing https://t.co/xcMtdrSXhM
