Microsoft and the National Football League (NFL) have extended their partnership to integrate advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technologies into football operations. This multiyear agreement introduces Microsoft Copilot and Azure AI Foundry to NFL sidelines and practice sessions, equipping over 2,500 Surface tablets across all 32 teams. The AI tools will provide real-time game data and analysis, enabling coaches and players to make faster, data-driven decisions by filtering plays based on down, distance, scoring plays, and penalties. Additionally, AI video tools will enhance pre-game operations such as coaching evaluations and player injury assessments. The collaboration aims to improve both in-game strategy and off-field preparation, marking a new era of innovation for the league. This partnership builds on a 12-year history between Microsoft and the NFL, now focusing more heavily on generative AI technologies to optimize recruitment, game strategy, and real-time analysis.
