Paramount Pictures has cast Hailee Steinfeld opposite Miles Teller in “Winter Games,” a sporty romantic comedy set around the Winter Olympic Games. Paul Downs Colaizzo, known for the 2019 indie hit “Brittany Runs a Marathon,” will direct and co-wrote the script with Patrick Cunnane. The story follows an overlooked skier and a self-sabotaging hockey legend whose unexpected relationship threatens her shot at a medal and his comeback bid. Tim and Trevor White are producing through Star Thrower Entertainment alongside Teller, who is also on board as producer. Steinfeld’s attachment comes on the heels of her breakout horror hit “Sinners,” which has earned about $366 million worldwide since its April release—making it the highest-grossing original film of the decade so far. “Winter Games” marks her first project since that success and reunites her with Paramount, where she previously headlined the 2018 feature “Bumblebee.” Production and release dates for the new film have not yet been announced.
