Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro, ranked 11th in the world and recognized as the top Latin American rider by the Union Cycliste Internationale, suffered a fall near the finish line during the first stage of the 2025 Vuelta a Burgos. Despite initial concerns, he only sustained minor scrapes and muscle discomfort. In the second stage, UAE Team Emirates strategically protected him, resulting in a 37th place finish. Del Toro recovered strongly in the third stage, finishing fourth and moving up to third place overall. Although he placed 19th in the fourth stage, he maintained third position in the general classification, trailing French leader Léo Bisiaux by 26 seconds. In the final stage, a 138.3-kilometer race from Quintana del Pidio to Las Lagunas de Neila, Del Toro overcame a puncture 14 kilometers from the finish to seize the overall victory, overtaking Bisiaux. This win marks Del Toro's triumph in the 47th edition of the Vuelta a Burgos, consolidating his rising status in professional cycling.
