Turkish Justice Minister Yılmaz Tunç has affirmed that the ongoing investigations into mayors from Antalya, Manavgat, Adana, and Adıyaman related to allegations of bribery and extortion are being conducted within legal boundaries and in accordance with judicial procedures. He emphasized that these inquiries are initiated by the respective Public Prosecutor's Offices and are not politically motivated. Tunç criticized those who link these investigations to President Erdoğan, stating such claims undermine the judiciary and constitutional order. He also addressed accusations that the investigations target only opposition parties, noting that in the past six years, AK Party municipalities have faced 30 lawsuits involving charges such as embezzlement and misuse of authority, with 13 convictions and 7 ongoing cases. The minister stressed that corruption has no political affiliation and criticized the opposition CHP leadership for prematurely condemning the investigations instead of awaiting their outcomes.
