Turkey's Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, led by Minister Murat Kurum, is advancing its housing and reconstruction efforts in disaster-affected regions. On June 19, 2025, the ministry celebrated the delivery of the 250,000th disaster housing unit in Kahramanmaraş's Azerbaijan Neighborhood, marking a rapid construction pace of 23 houses per hour and 550 houses daily in the earthquake zone. Minister Kurum emphasized that no citizen displaced by the earthquake would remain without a home. In July 2025, Kurum visited İzmir's Ödemiş district to assess damage from recent forest fires, assuring that new homes for affected residents would be built and delivered by the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKİ) within one year. Additionally, in Hatay, the ministry completed the construction of 500 homes, with plans to provide new housing to hundreds of families in Antakya. The ministry is also involved in overseeing the construction of the new National Defense Ministry headquarters, the Ay Yıldız project in Ankara, with Minister Kurum and Defense Minister Yaşar Güler conducting site inspections alongside senior military officials.
