Turkey's Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change has reached a milestone by delivering the 250,000th disaster-resistant housing unit in regions affected by earthquakes. The key handover ceremony took place in Kahramanmaraş, attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Among the properties delivered were 49,056 residences and workplaces, including those constructed in the Azerbaijan Neighborhood, a project supported by Azerbaijan. The ministry continues its reconstruction efforts in disaster-affected areas, including İzmir, where Minister Murat Kurum visited villages damaged by recent forest fires. Kurum assured that new homes for those who lost their houses in the fires will be built and delivered within one year by the Housing Development Administration (TOKİ). In Hatay, the ministry completed the construction of 576 homes in the "500 Evler" project, providing new residences for families displaced by the February 2023 earthquakes. Additionally, damage assessments are ongoing in Çanakkale, Bolu, and Tekirdağ following recent wildfires, with the ministry pledging swift action once evaluations are complete.
