Inside Edition has hired Eva Pilgrim, a longtime ABC News correspondent and co-anchor of “GMA3: What You Need to Know,” as its next host. Pilgrim will take over the syndicated newsmagazine this fall when it begins its 38th season, becoming only the fourth anchor in the program’s history. “Anchoring Inside Edition is truly a dream job,” Pilgrim said in a statement. Executive producer Charles Lachman called the hire “winning the jackpot,” citing her reporting experience and on-air relatability. The show reaches nearly 10 million viewers each week. Pilgrim’s appointment follows the departure of Deborah Norville, who stepped down in April after three decades at the helm to pursue other projects, including a planned syndicated game show. Norville has anchored Inside Edition since 1995 and was its longest-serving host. Pilgrim’s exit is part of a broader overhaul at ABC News. In an internal memo seen by Variety, ABC News president Almin Karamehmedovic said Pilgrim’s GMA3 co-anchor DeMarco Morgan “has decided to begin a new journey and will be departing ABC News.” The network is expected to rely on a rotating roster drawn from its Good Morning America talent bench while it retools the afternoon hour, which has undergone several anchor changes since its 2023 reboot.
