A new Siena College survey of 813 registered voters shows New York State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani commanding 44% support in the city’s November mayoral contest, 19 percentage points ahead of independent candidate and former governor Andrew Cuomo, who polls at 25%. Republican Curtis Sliwa garners 12%, while incumbent Mayor Eric Adams, running as an independent after losing the Democratic primary, registers 7%. Mamdani’s advantage is widest among Democratic voters, who back him 53% to 32% over Cuomo, and among voters younger than 35. By contrast, New Yorkers aged 55 and older prefer Cuomo 38% to 32%. The poll also highlights deep favorability problems for Cuomo (37% positive, 54% negative in the city) and Adams (30% positive, 58% negative). The socialist-leaning Democrat has spent the week on a “Five Boroughs Against Trump” tour, linking both Cuomo and former President Donald Trump to corruption and rising living costs. Cuomo has counter-attacked by spotlighting Mamdani’s residency in a rent-stabilized apartment and pitching “Zohran’s Law,” which would restrict such units to low-income tenants. Political bettors have taken note: the prediction platform Kalshi places Mamdani’s chances of winning at 82%. With endorsements from figures such as Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Jerry Nadler, the race has drawn national attention as it heads toward the November 4 vote.
