Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo intensified the city’s mayoral contest on 11 August by unveiling “Zohran’s Law,” a measure that would bar high-income New Yorkers from moving into rent-stabilized apartments once they become vacant. The proposal is aimed squarely at Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, who has acknowledged paying about $2,300 a month for a rent-stabilized one-bedroom in Astoria. Cuomo said the legislation would close loopholes that let “wealthy people abuse affordable housing,” pledging that new tenants could earn no more than an amount in which rent consumes at least 30 percent of income—meaning a $2,500 apartment would be off-limits to anyone making more than $100,000. He framed the plan as a response to the city’s worsening affordability crisis. Mamdani dismissed the idea as “petty vindictiveness,” noting that Cuomo had ample time to act while governor. The Queens assemblyman instead launched a five-borough tour attacking President Donald Trump and promised that his administration would be the president’s “worst nightmare.” He also accused Cuomo of privately courting Trump to tilt the race, an allegation both Cuomo and the White House denied. Despite the clash, momentum remains with Mamdani. Prediction market Kalshi on Monday put his odds of winning at 81 percent. Campaign-finance filings show he has raised more than $816,000, including roughly $40,500 from Google employees and significant support from other technology firms. Mamdani is running on a platform that includes a citywide rent freeze and higher corporate taxes, positions cheered by progressive leaders such as Representative Jerry Nadler but criticized by business groups. The general election is scheduled for 4 November, with incumbent Mayor Eric Adams and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa also on the ballot.

Chuck Schumer doesnt just "need to go." Democrat loyalists need to confront the fact that a lunatic zionist who opposed Obamas signature foreign policy accomplishment, the Iran Deal, because it made Israel mad, immediately rose to party leader.
