NetEase has officially launched Season 3 of Marvel Rivals, titled "The Abyss Awakens," which began on July 11, 2025. The new season introduces Jean Grey and the Phoenix as a playable hero, alongside Blade, who is set for release in an August 3.5 update. The season also features the villain Knull, the symbiote king, adding a new antagonist to the game. Players can expect new Phoenix Force-themed skins for characters including Magik, Wolverine, Namor, Blade, and Emma Frost, as well as symbiote skins for Storm and Jeff the Land Shark. A notable gameplay addition is the team-up ability called "Primal Flame" between Jean Grey and Wolverine. Season 3 also brings changes to player progression by removing daily grind requirements and offering greater customization options, such as combining costume elements, MVP animations, ultimate visual effects, and unique lobby backgrounds. The update aims to restore excitement to the hero shooter with shorter seasons and new rewards. The launch was accompanied by an official trailer and new in-game content, including a free Symbiote Storm skin and new emojis celebrating Jean Grey's arrival.
