U.S. Representative Anna Paulina Luna said she will vote against any additional military assistance for Ukraine, arguing that Kyiv has curtailed democratic norms and mishandled previous Western support. In posts on 3–4 July, the Florida Republican claimed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had banned the Orthodox Church, suspended elections under martial law and allowed U.S.-supplied weapons to appear on the black market. Luna, who entered Congress in 2023 and aligns closely with former President Donald Trump’s ‘America First’ wing, also accused the Ukrainian government of laundering “billions” of dollars and blacklisting U.S. journalists. She asserted that “peace is the only option,” contending further arms shipments would prolong the conflict with Russia. Her stance adds to growing Republican resistance to the Biden administration’s request for more Ukraine funding. House leaders have not yet scheduled a vote on the next aid tranche, and a narrower GOP majority means even a handful of defections could complicate approval.
