Davi Alcolumbre, president of the Brazilian Senate and member of União Brasil, has chosen to remain neutral regarding the government's legal action before the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to reverse the Congress's decision to revoke the tax on financial transactions (IOF). Alcolumbre stated that the government has the legitimacy to judicialize the IOF issue and expressed that the process should be allowed to unfold naturally. Additionally, Alcolumbre, supported by the Liberal Party (PL) for the Senate presidency, announced he will shelve the impeachment request against Supreme Court Minister Flávio Dino, filed by PL deputy Nikolas Ferreira, citing no grounds for Congress to consider the removal of Dino or Minister Alexandre de Moraes.
