Fremont police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the 45000 block of Northport Loop West, near Cushing Parkway and Interstate 880. Officers responding to multiple 911 calls found a victim with at least one gunshot wound and rushed the individual to a hospital, where the person was pronounced dead. Investigators said a possible suspect remained in the vicinity of the RV-lined street and was taken into custody without incident. Authorities have not released the names of either the victim or the suspect and have not disclosed a motive. The roadway was closed for several hours while detectives collected evidence, but police said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Fremont Police Department has asked anyone with information to contact its investigative unit.
