A former Michigan charter-school teacher has been charged with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male student, prosecutors said. Authorities identify the defendant as 26-year-old Jocelynn Sanroman, who taught at Oakside Prep Academy in Waterford Township, about 30 miles northwest of Detroit. Investigators say the relationship began in August 2023 and came to light after Sanroman told a colleague, who reported the disclosure to school officials and police. Oakland County Prosecutor Karen D. McDonald called the case “the ultimate breach of trust,” saying Sanroman used her authority as an educator to exploit a minor. The school said it acted immediately after learning of the allegations and stressed that student safety remains its top priority. Sanroman surrendered to deputies and was arraigned on 30 June. Court records show she was released the same day on a $20,000 personal bond and must return for a probable-cause hearing on 10 July. Each count carries a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
