A police report obtained by multiple outlets identifies 19-year-old software engineer Edward Coristine—known online as “Big Balls” and a former operative for the Department of Government Efficiency—as the victim of an alleged early-morning carjacking in Washington, DC. The incident occurred between 3:01 a.m. and 4:20 a.m. on 3 August near Swann and 14th Streets NW, when a group of roughly ten juveniles surrounded Coristine’s vehicle. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, Coristine pushed his companion, Emily Bryant, into the car for safety before confronting the assailants, who beat him to the point of concussion and stole his iPhone 16. Officers on patrol arrested a 15-year-old male and female on charges of unarmed carjacking; the remaining suspects fled. Bryant and Coristine later identified the two detainees, police said. The attack drew immediate reactions from national figures. President Donald Trump posted a photograph of a bloodied Coristine and warned that, unless local authorities curb juvenile crime, he would ask Congress to revoke the capital’s home-rule status and place Washington under direct federal control. Trump also urged that offenders aged 14 and older be tried as adults. Elon Musk, who previously led DOGE, echoed the president’s position, describing Coristine as a hero for defending Bryant and calling it “time to federalize DC.” City statistics show violent crime has declined in 2025 compared with last year, but the assault has intensified debate over how the federal government should respond to high-profile acts of violence in the nation’s capital.
JD Vance didn’t know hero season was on till Big Balls showed up. https://t.co/65cgvUJHd2
It's great how Big Balls has a family background in intelligence services and is breaking up mob crime in DC. I myself have broken up much mob crime in DC and elsewhere in my extracurricular activities as a child of US intelligence. https://t.co/JeKy8fgdva
The @Tesla Diner is now officially running on Big Balls. Respect to the legend @elonmusk for making it happen. https://t.co/r8C7Kk6gNX
