The United Kingdom will host a meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing” on 10 July, bringing together countries that have pledged military and financial support for Ukraine. According to the Elysée Palace, the session will be chaired jointly by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, who will participate by videoconference from the UK. Delegations are expected to discuss further measures to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities in the face of Russia’s invasion, building on existing commitments of weapons, training and funding. The gathering follows earlier meetings of the ad-hoc group, which operates outside formal NATO structures but coordinates closely with the alliance. The conference coincides with Macron’s 8–10 July state visit to Britain, the first hosted by King Charles III this year. During the trip, the French leader will receive a royal welcome in Windsor, address both houses of Parliament and hold bilateral talks with Starmer at Downing Street ahead of a separate UK-France summit, signalling a renewed closeness between London and Paris.
