Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood on Saturday visited a municipal-run government school in Surat, Gujarat, to study the state’s technology-driven education model. During the inspection he interacted with students and teachers and reviewed digital teaching tools and infrastructure in the classrooms. Sood noted that Gujarat has converted “more than 1 lakh 10 thousand” (over 110,000) classrooms into smart classrooms and acknowledged that Delhi trails the western state on this metric. He said the Delhi government would look to replicate aspects of Gujarat’s model to provide a “better education system” for the capital’s students. Separately, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said his administration is also investing in facilities for government schools and has undertaken “revolutionary steps” to make education more accessible, underscoring a broader push by Bharatiya Janata Party–led state governments to upgrade public education through technology.
