Two separate cases involving female teachers accused of sexual misconduct with 16-year-old male students have emerged in Michigan, USA, and Mumbai, India. In Michigan, Jocelyn Sanroman, a 26-year-old prep school teacher at Oakside Prep Academy, has been charged with three counts of criminal sexual conduct for allegedly having sex with a 16-year-old student in 2023. Prosecutors reported that she admitted the affair to a coworker. In Mumbai, a 40-year-old female teacher from a prominent school was arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for repeatedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old male student over the course of nearly a year. Authorities stated that the teacher allegedly gave the student anti-anxiety medication and alcohol, took him to five-star hotels, and coerced him into the relationship, including during dance rehearsals. A friend of the teacher reportedly encouraged the student as well. The Mumbai police have registered a case and taken the teacher into custody, with psychiatric evaluation planned. Both cases have drawn attention due to the age of the victims and the abuse of trust by educators.
