OpenAI has introduced a new low-cost subscription tier, ChatGPT Go, priced at ₹399 ($4.6) per month and available exclusively in India, the company’s second-largest market. The plan was announced on 19 Aug 2025 by Nick Turley, vice president and head of ChatGPT. Subscribers receive access to the GPT-5 model along with 10-times higher limits on messages, image generations and file uploads, and double the chat memory compared with the free version. Payments can be made through India’s Unified Payments Interface, marking the first time UPI is available across all ChatGPT plans. ChatGPT Go sits below ChatGPT Plus (₹1,999/month) and ChatGPT Pro (₹19,900) in OpenAI’s pricing ladder. The company said the India-only launch is intended to widen access to its generative-AI tools before considering expansion of the budget tier to other regions.
