South Korean actor Song Young Kyu, known for his supporting role in the 2019 box-office hit “Extreme Job,” was found dead inside a parked vehicle in a residential complex in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, early on 4 August. An acquaintance discovered the 55-year-old at about 8 a.m. and alerted authorities. Yongin Dongbu Police said there were no immediate signs of foul play and no note at the scene. Investigators are questioning relatives and weighing an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Song had been embroiled in controversy after being caught driving under the influence on 19 June. Police said he drove roughly five kilometres with a blood-alcohol level exceeding 0.08 percent, a level that mandates licence revocation; prosecutors were reviewing the case. Following the incident, the actor resigned from the stage production “Shakespeare in Love,” and broadcasters ENA and SBS said they would minimise his appearances in ongoing dramas “The Defects” and “The Winning Try.”
