Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum officially launched the federal health program "Salud Casa por Casa" in June 2025, a preventive strategy aimed at ensuring effective healthcare access for elderly individuals and people with disabilities across the country. The program involves health workers visiting homes nationwide, accompanied by the National Guard to ensure their security amid concerns about safety. Sheinbaum described the initiative as one of the most important prevention strategies globally and stated it is intended to become a world reference for disease prevention. The program has already delivered over 2.2 million medical consultations at home and reached more than 450,000 beneficiaries. It also plans to perform cataract surgeries for seniors starting next year and promises fully equipped IMSS hospitals. The government is concurrently expanding healthcare infrastructure, with 13 hospitals and 9 clinics inaugurated so far in 2025, and plans to open an additional 18 hospitals and 3 clinics by the end of the year, totaling 31 hospitals and 12 clinics. Sheinbaum emphasized the commitment to not leave any elderly or disabled person unvisited by health workers. The program has been rolled out in multiple states, including Tlaxcala, Michoacán, Tamaulipas, Guerrero, and Campeche, with ongoing efforts to maintain close contact with vulnerable populations throughout Mexico.
