Prieto’s “Pedro Páramo” Tops 67th Ariel Awards Nominations

Mexico’s film academy released the nominations for the 67th Ariel Awards, the country’s top cinema honours, recognising work produced in 2024-25. Rodrigo Prieto’s directorial debut “Pedro Páramo”, backed by Netflix, leads the field with 16 nominations, including best picture, direction and cinematography. Alonso Ruizpalacios’s “La cocina” follows with 13 nods, while “Sujo” by Astrid Rondero and Fernanda Valadez and Pierre Saint Martin’s “No nos moverán” secured 10 each. The five best-picture contenders are those four titles plus Jorge Cuchí’s “Un actor malo”. The ceremony is scheduled for 20 September in Puerto Vallarta, marking the first time the event is held in the Jalisco resort city. Lifetime achievement Ariel de Oro statuettes will go to actresses Patricia Reyes Spíndola and Jacqueline Andere, as well as the Sindicato de Trabajadores de la Producción Cinematográfica.
