Inside 'Abraham's Boys,' the Subversive Western 'Dracula' Sequel With Van Helsing Battling Evil in the Daylight https://t.co/zNXpxpEjj6
“Abraham’s Boys: A Dracula Story,” a feature adaptation of Joe Hill’s short story that serves as an unofficial sequel to Bram Stoker’s classic novel, opened 11 July in select U.S. theaters and began streaming the same day on AMC-owned horror platform Shudder. RLJE Films handled the limited theatrical roll-out, while Shudder secured exclusive digital rights. Written and directed by Natasha Kermani, the Western-tinged psychological horror follows an aging Abraham Van Helsing (Titus Welliver) as he raises sons Max (Brady Hepner) and Rudy (Judah Mackey) on a remote California farm in 1915, years after the events of “Dracula.” Jocelin Donahue plays Mina, whose lingering bond with the vampire heightens Van Helsing’s paranoia. Kermani filmed largely in broad daylight to invert traditional vampire tropes, emphasizing family tension and generational trauma over conventional monster-hunting spectacle.
