Firefighters are responding to the Wolf Fire, a vegetation blaze that ignited shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday near Old Banning and Idyllwild Road south of Banning in Riverside County, California. Cal Fire said the fire had charred about 62 acres by 4:09 p.m. local time and was moving at a moderate rate. Incident commanders have requested 20 Type-3 engines, six water tenders, six hand crews and several aircraft, including Air Attack 330, Tankers 72 and 73 and Copter 609, to reinforce the initial attack. The fire was reported pushing toward Highway 243 with a possible impact window of one to two hours, but no evacuation orders had been issued as of early evening. Cal Fire said crews were working to keep the blaze from crossing the highway and spreading into steeper terrain. Authorities have not yet determined a cause for the fire.
