Samsung, Huawei, and Apple have each announced or launched new devices and software updates in May 2025. Samsung has begun rolling out its Android 15-based One UI 7 update to a wide range of devices, including budget-friendly Galaxy M, A, and Tab series models. The update introduces an interface redesign, new features such as the 'Now Bar,' and improved battery and security management, including the April 2025 security patch. The Galaxy M35 5G in India is among the first to receive the update, with further expansion to other regions and models expected in June. Samsung is also preparing the One UI 8 beta, based on Android 16, for release in summer 2025, likely coinciding with the launch of new foldable devices. One UI 8 is expected to introduce features such as Audio Brief and 3D weather avatars. In hardware, Samsung is set to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, with leaks indicating a wider and thinner Fold 7 design (158.43 x 143.14 x 4.54mm), a titanium rear plate, a triple camera system with a 200MP sensor, a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, and a 4,400mAh battery. The Z Flip 7 is expected to feature the Exynos 2500 chip in most markets. Samsung is also working on a tri-fold Galaxy G Fold, with a price between $3,000 and $3,500, 25W charging, and an initial release limited to South Korea and China. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is anticipated to return with a rotating bezel and a new design, while leaks suggest the Galaxy Watch 8 series may retain an older chip and introduce skin analysis features. Huawei has introduced the Watch Fit 4 and Watch Fit 4 Pro smartwatches. The Watch Fit 4 Pro features a lightweight titanium and aluminum design, a 1.82-inch AMOLED display with 3000 nits brightness, water resistance up to 40 meters, GNSS dual frequency, and up to 10 days of battery life. It supports over 100 sports and weighs 30g with a 9.3mm thickness. The launch includes a promotional price of 249.99 euros, an extra strap, and a trial subscription to Huawei Health+. Huawei also launched the Watch 5, which features an X-Tap sensor capable of measuring 11 health indicators in under 60 seconds, a 3000 nits display, 4-5 days of battery life, and is priced from 449.99 euros. Apple is preparing to launch the iPhone 17 series, including the iPhone 17 Pro, Pro Max, and Air, in September 2025. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to have a triple 48MP rear camera system, a 24MP front camera, 8K video recording, and a redesigned horizontal camera bar. The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to feature a 5.5mm ultra-thin body, silicon battery technology with 15% higher energy density, and a premium design.
