Ukrainian developer GSC Game World said its post-apocalyptic shooter “Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl” will arrive on PlayStation 5 and the forthcoming PS5 Pro in late 2025, ending the title’s period of Xbox console exclusivity. The studio said the PlayStation version will make full use of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, while an upgrade tailored for PS5 Pro hardware is also in development. Stalker 2 debuted on PC and Xbox Series X|S in November 2024, selling about 1 million copies in its first two days. IGN scored the game 8/10, though players and critics cited numerous bugs at launch. GSC has since issued several large patches, and the PlayStation edition is expected to include those fixes. The franchise’s expansion to Sony’s platform caps a turbulent development cycle that was disrupted by Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, prompting part of the Kyiv-based team to relocate to Prague. The broader release gives GSC an opportunity to reach a wider audience and further recoup its investment in the long-delayed sequel.
