President Donald Trump said his political network has collected more than $1.5 billion in contributions since his 2024 victory, a figure that underscores the Republican Party’s financial edge heading into the 2026 midterm elections. Federal filings show MAGA Inc., the super-PAC aligned with the president, is holding close to $200 million, while the Republican National Committee reported about $80 million cash on hand at the end of July. Democrats are contending with a far leaner balance sheet. According to Federal Election Commission disclosures cited by the New York Times and Axios, the Democratic National Committee has spent more than $15 million this year toward roughly $20.5 million in outstanding bills from Vice President Kamala Harris’s failed 2024 presidential bid. The outlays left the DNC with only about $15 million in its accounts at the end of July, even as it also absorbs more than $1 million in legal expenses for former President Joe Biden. The widening fundraising gap is fueling concern among Democratic strategists who say the party must rapidly rebuild its reserves to compete for control of Congress in 2026. Republican officials, buoyed by Trump’s record-setting haul, contend their financial advantage could help them preserve—or expand—their majorities on Capitol Hill.
