A man was arrested Thursday after a shooting aboard a Trinity Railway Express train as it arrived at Fort Worth Central Station, police said. Officers were dispatched shortly after 11 a.m. and found a passenger with gunshot wounds to the leg. The victim was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in stable but potentially life-threatening condition. Investigators said the incident began when a wheelchair-bound passenger and another man argued while waiting to use the restroom. According to police, the standing passenger punched the wheelchair user, who then drew a handgun and fired several rounds. The alleged shooter, whose name has not been released, was also taken to a hospital at his request and remains in custody while detectives consider possible charges. No other passengers were injured, but rail operations were disrupted. TRE suspended westbound service at Northside Station and ran bus shuttles between Trinity Lakes and Fort Worth T&P stations until normal operations resumed about 1:30 p.m. The Fort Worth Police Department and Trinity Metro continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the gunfire.
