Heavy and continuous rainfall in the northern regions of India and Pakistan has caused severe flooding along major rivers, including the Sutlej, Beas, Ujh, Ravi, and Chenab. In Punjab, India, river levels have risen substantially, with the Sutlej River at Ganda Singh Wala reaching a flow rate of up to 195,899 cubic feet per second, leading to flooding of various settlements and prompting the relocation of approximately 150,000 people to safer areas. The National Disaster Management Authority and Punjab Disaster Management Authority have issued alerts to manage the emergency. In Jammu and Kashmir, flooding has affected areas such as Kathua and Gadigarh, where Indian Army personnel have been deployed to rescue stranded residents. Local officials reported three casualties in Doda district due to a flash flood, while other districts including Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Udhampur have not reported fatalities so far. Authorities continue to monitor rising water levels, with red alerts declared in some areas, including the Chenab River. Relief operations are ongoing in flood-affected regions of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan as well.
