The 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) is set to begin in Kenya, with matches starting on August 2. Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi will host Kenya's group games, including their opening match against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on August 3. The DRC team, two-time CHAN champions, has already arrived in Nairobi. The Local Organizing Committee, chaired by Nicholas Musonye, confirmed that all stadiums are ready, with renovations supported by President William Ruto. The Harambee Stars, Kenya's national team, will make their first appearance in the tournament, showcasing a strong squad. Security arrangements have been detailed by PS Omollo to ensure safety during and after match days. The tournament has prompted road closures in Nairobi to accommodate the event. Former Kenyan football legend Dennis Oliech has been unveiled as the CHAN ambassador, with the Football Kenya Federation facilitating free league entry for past players. The tournament also features other past winners in Kenya's group, although some former champions are absent from this edition.
