Shadrack Maluki, head of the Kenya Judo Federation and former first vice-president of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, has been elected NOC-K president after defeating outgoing secretary general Francis Mutuku by 15 votes to 12 in elections held on 21 July at a Nairobi hotel. Maluki succeeds two-term president Paul Tergat, whose eight-year tenure concluded this month. In the same ballot, Athletics Kenya’s Barnaba Korir secured the first deputy president post with an identical 15–12 margin over Boxing Federation official Anthony Otieno. Thirteen positions were contested during the poll, with weightlifting official John Ogolla (secretary general), cycling representative Charles Mose (deputy treasurer) and marathon great Eliud Kipchoge (male athlete representative) elected unopposed. The new leadership is expected to steer Kenya’s preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Games and other international events.
