Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it has detained 26 people in the oil-rich Khuzestan province on charges of collaborating with Israel, according to the semi-official Fars news agency. The IRGC’s Intelligence Organization of the Hazrat Vali Asr Corps claimed most of the suspects admitted to acts of sabotage and other “anti-security” activities. The latest sweep follows the IRGC’s announcement two days earlier that six individuals were arrested in Hamadan province for allegedly planning operations on behalf of Israel’s Mossad spy service. Iranian media said the suspects were picked up in the cities of Razan, Nahavand and Hamadan. The arrests come days after a 12-day conflict between Iran and Israel ended in a cease-fire. In a televised address this week, Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir disclosed that Israeli commandos had carried out clandestine missions inside Iran during the fighting. Tehran has vowed to accelerate prosecutions in national-security cases, underscoring a broader crackdown on what it describes as Israeli infiltration.
