An Israeli strike on the Palestinian Red Crescent Society’s headquarters in Khan Younis early Sunday killed one staff member and wounded three others, the aid group said. The United Nations Human Rights Office denounced the incident and warned that the deliberate killing of humanitarian personnel could constitute a war crime. The attack came as Gaza’s humanitarian emergency deepened. The territory’s health ministry reported six additional deaths from famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, bringing the starvation toll to 175—among them 93 children. Overall, hospitals recorded 119 fatalities and 866 injuries in the same period, and the ministry puts total war casualties at 60,839 dead and 149,588 wounded since October 2023. Medical sources said Israeli fire also killed at least 19 people, including 14 civilians waiting for food aid, on Sunday. Efforts to ease the crisis remain patchy. Egypt said two trucks carrying 107 tons of diesel were poised to cross into Gaza, and the Jordanian army, joined by the United Arab Emirates, France, Germany and Belgium, carried out seven airdrops that delivered 61 tons of food and other relief supplies. Separately, about 20 Emirati aid trucks entered through the Rafah crossing, and a small fuel convoy was cleared for the enclave for the first time in weeks. International pressure on both Hamas and Israel is mounting. Videos released by Palestinian militants showing emaciated Israeli hostages Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski provoked condemnation from French President Emmanuel Macron, EU foreign-policy chief Kaja Kallas and other leaders, who demanded their immediate release and an urgent cease-fire. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was “profoundly shocked” by the footage and asked the International Committee of the Red Cross to assist the captives. Macron, Kallas and senior officials from Germany and the United Kingdom also called for Hamas’s complete disarmament and for unhindered humanitarian access to Gaza.
