ABC has given a straight-to-series order to a revival of the medical comedy “Scrubs,” positioning the show for the 2025-26 broadcast season. The network confirmed that original stars Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke will reprise their roles as J.D. Dorian, Chris Turk and Elliot Reid, while also joining the project as executive producers. Series creator Bill Lawrence, who developed the nine-season original that ran on NBC and later ABC from 2001–10, will return as an executive producer through his Doozer banner. Day-to-day production will be overseen by Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra, both veterans of the first run, who have been named showrunners and executive producers. The half-hour single-camera comedy is produced by Disney’s 20th Television. ABC said the new iteration will revisit Sacred Heart Hospital, following J.D. and Turk as they reconnect in a changed medical landscape while mentoring a new class of interns. Additional casting announcements are expected ahead of production.
