Amazon MGM Studios’ television adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’ best-selling fantasy novel “Fourth Wing” has parted ways with showrunner Moira Walley-Beckett, the “Anne With an E” creator and former “Breaking Bad” writer who boarded the project in July 2024, trade publications reported on 1 July. The studio has simultaneously struck an overall deal with Jac Schaeffer—creator of Disney+’s Emmy-nominated “WandaVision” and its spinoff “Agatha All Along”—and is in discussions for her to serve as writer, executive producer and showrunner, according to Deadline. Schaeffer is described as a leading contender; Amazon has not confirmed a final appointment. Developed by Amazon MGM Studios with Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society and newly added Kilter Films, the series has not yet received a formal green-light or casting commitments. Yarros’ planned five-book Empyrean saga, which began with “Fourth Wing,” has logged 88 weeks on the New York Times best-seller list, including 18 at No. 1.
