Hulu has released the first trailer for Season 5 of “Only Murders in the Building,” confirming that the Emmy-nominated comedy-mystery will return on 9 September with a three-episode premiere on both Hulu and the new Hulu hub on Disney+. Subsequent instalments will arrive weekly. The new footage sets up the darkest storyline yet for the Arconia’s amateur sleuths. After the apartment building’s long-time doorman, Lester, is found dead in the courtyard fountain, police rule the incident accidental. Podcasters Charles, Oliver and Mabel refuse to accept the conclusion and are drawn into a widening investigation that links old-school mobsters, billionaires and the shifting power dynamics of New York City. Series regulars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez return alongside Michael Cyril Creighton. Guest stars include Meryl Streep, Renée Zellweger, Logan Lerman, Christoph Waltz, Keegan-Michael Key, Beanie Feldstein, Nathan Lane and others, giving the show its most extensive ensemble to date. Season 5 is co-created and executive-produced by Martin and John Hoffman, with Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith and JJ Philbin also executive-producing for 20th Television.
