Chinese game developer Game Science has officially announced Black Myth: Zhong Kui, the sequel to its 2024 hit action role-playing game Black Myth: Wukong. The reveal took place during Gamescom 2025's Opening Night Live event. Black Myth: Zhong Kui draws creative inspiration from the Chinese folk figure Zhong Kui, a Daoist deity known as the ghost-catching god who wanders between hell and earth. The game will continue as a single-player action RPG, similar to its predecessor, and is currently in early development. The teaser trailer showcased a horror-tinged atmosphere and highlighted Zhong Kui's character design, which incorporates elements from ancient Nuo masks used in traditional Chinese ceremonies. Game Science, backed by Tencent, plans to release the title on PC and mainstream console platforms in the future. The announcement follows the global success of Black Myth: Wukong, which has established the Black Myth series as a notable franchise in the gaming industry.
