Israeli prosecutors have indicted a teacher from the Negev region on charges of espionage for Iran, the latest in a series of cases involving civilians allegedly recruited by Tehran. Authorities say the woman, reportedly from the Bedouin community, was arrested in June and formally charged on 17 July after a joint investigation by the Shin Bet domestic security agency and local police. According to the charge sheet, the defendant is suspected of carrying out assignments for an Iranian agent during the war, including transferring mobile phones and cash through intermediaries. Officials did not disclose how long the suspected activities had been under way or whether additional arrests are expected. If convicted, she could face a lengthy prison sentence under Israel’s espionage statutes.
