Israel’s police and the Shin Bet security agency said Tuesday they had arrested a husband and wife in their 30s from the central city of Ra’anana on suspicion of spying for Iran. Investigators seized mobile phones, computers and what they described as messages believed to be communications with an Iranian handler during a search of the couple’s home. The latest detention comes a day after authorities announced the arrest of three other Israeli citizens in two separate cases on similar espionage allegations. In those investigations, the suspects are accused of photographing sensitive sites, including air-defence systems, and leaking information in return for payments that the Shin Bet said reached hundreds of thousands of shekels. Security officials said the incidents form part of a broader effort to disrupt Iranian intelligence networks operating inside Israel. Dozens of Israelis have been held over the past two years on accusations of contacts with Iranian agents, according to official statements and local media reports.
